Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How long does it take to do everything at the park?
    On average, approximately 4 hours.
  2. Can we bring a picnic lunch to the park?
You are more than welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the park!  We do have pavilions with picnic tables for your use. You are welcome to use tables that are not reserved. If you wish to reserve a table in advance, the cost is $10 per table (see Table Reservations).
  3. Do you accept credit cards?
We accept all major credit cards.
  4. Are you wheelchair accessible?
All of our exhibits (with the exception of Lake View Trail) and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. However, please note that the walking trails to the exhibits are loose gravel and do have some inclines. This may make pushing a wheelchair difficult for some people. We have been told by park visitors that wheelchairs with large wheels work better on the loose gravel.  We also have a wheelchair accessible Safari Tour bus. However, we do recommend the use of a regular tour bus if you are able to exit the wheelchair, board the bus and maintain an upright, seated position while riding.
  5. Are strollers or wheelchairs for rent?
Strollers and wagons are available to rent at the HUB concession stand.  We do not have wheelchairs available to rent, but you are more than welcome to bring your own.
  6. Do you charge a parking fee?
No. We do not charge to park your vehicle in our parking lots.
  7. Can we bring food to feed the animals?
No. USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) federal recommendation prohibits you from bringing food to feed our animals. However, you may purchase animal food at the park. This is a safety precaution to reduce the possibility of contamination to our animals from an outside source.
  8. Are you open if it is raining?
We are open rain or shine. We do not give any refunds due to inclement weather. Please note, if you are coming on a rainy day, be prepared for the weather. Our safari tour buses and our zoo exhibit areas are not covered. Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances may cause us to temporarily close safari tours, shows or exhibits.
  9. Are you allowed to bring a grill to the park?
We allow the use of gas and charcoal grills. However, it is important that you empty your charcoal safely on the stones and not in the grass.
  10. Where can I find coupons for your park?
We have coupons available in fundraiser books such as: Bonus Book and Kids Stuff Coupon Book. At Lake Tobias, our goal is to keep our admission prices reasonable so that our wildlife experience remains economically available to everyone, even without a coupon.
  11. Are Emotional Support Animals permitted in the park?
Emotional Support animals and Therapeutic animals are NOT permitted in the park.  Unlike service animals, emotional support animals are not required to perform any specific tasks for a disability, nor do they undergo the extensive obedience training as do service animals.  At Lake Tobias, this training is essential to the safety of the service animal, its handler, and our exotic animals. As per the ADA and Pennsylvania law, owners of public accommodations are NOT REQUIRED to allow emotional support animals on their property.
